I had to put of this Wednesday’s post until today so I could get all of the news about the PS4. I’m not excited about this, but here goes nothing.
First, Sony focused on PC-like specs. It has an 8-core 64-bit x86 AMD CPU, an AMD GPU, 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM, a Blu-ray drive, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 2.1, and HDMI.
Second, the Dualshock 4 controller. It looks an awful lot like the old Dualshock 3, but with a touchpad front and center (Wii U, anyone?). It also has a share button, so that gameplay recordings can be shared to social networks. Playstation Move will also be supported, as well as hooking the console up to a PS Vita to either use it for unique features or to play PS4 games when someone else is using the TV (more Wii U-like features).
Third, some of the games announced include Diablo III, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and a new Final Fantasy game.
That’s about it. No pictures of the console, no release date, not even a price – which is a little dissapointing, but if you really WANT an eighth gen console right now, plenty of websites are locked in a Wii U price war.
